Claims, Insurance & Limitation of Liability
At Renew Drycleaners, all garments are processed with professional care using industry-standard methods. However, due to the nature of textile cleaning, certain risks are inherent in the cleaning process.
By using our services, customers agree to the following terms:
1. Pre-Existing Condition & Inherent Risks
- Renew Drycleaners shall not be held responsible for:
- Normal wear and tear, fabric weakness, colour loss, shrinkage, or dye migration
- Latent defects, age-related deterioration, or manufacturer faults
- Incorrect, misleading, incomplete, or missing care labels
2.Accessories, Trims & Components (Important Exclusion)
- We accept no responsibility or liability for loss of or damage to:
- Buttons, buckles, belts, hooks, clasps, fasteners, zips, studs
- Beads, sequins, embroidery, prints, glued or heat-bonded decorations
- Leather, suede, fur, synthetic leather, trims, or attached panels
- Brand labels, care labels, logos, patches, or stitched tags
- These items are cleaned entirely at the customer’s risk, as they may not be designed to withstand professional cleaning processes.
3. Care Labels & Owner’s Risk
- Where care labels are missing, unclear, or contradictory, garments are accepted and cleaned at the owner’s risk.
- Customers are responsible for checking pockets and removing valuables. We accept no liability for items left inside garments.
4. Inspection & Claim Notification
- All items must be inspected immediately upon collection or delivery.
- Any claim must be reported within 24 hours of receipt.
- Claims submitted after this period will not be accepted.
5. Proof of Value
- Claims must be supported by original purchase receipts or verifiable proof of value.
- In the absence of proof, compensation will be based on fair depreciated value, not replacement or sentimental value.
6. Limitation of Liability
- Our maximum liability for any accepted claim is strictly limited to the lesser of:
- £300 per item, or
- Five (5) times the cleaning charge for that item, or
- The current depreciated value of the garment.
- We do not provide “new-for-old” replacement under any circumstances.
7. Insurance & Claims Handling
- Renew Drycleaners maintains appropriate commercial insurance coverage.
- Where a claim is referred to our insurers, customers acknowledge that insurance investigations and settlement processes may take longer and are subject to insurer documentation, assessment, and approval timelines.
- No compensation can be issued until the insurer’s process has been completed.
8. Exclusions of Liability
- Renew Drycleaners shall not be liable for:
- Indirect or consequential loss
- Loss of use, business interruption, inconvenience, or emotional distress
- Colour reaction, shrinkage, or fabric change inherent to the cleaning process
- Items accepted under “clean at owner’s risk” instructions
9. Goodwill Gestures
- Any goodwill compensation offered is discretionary, without admission of liability, and does not establish a precedent for future claims.
10. Final Determination
- All claims are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
- The decision of Renew Drycleaners shall be final, subject to applicable UK consumer law.
